Pastor Dan received his bachelors degree from Western Illinois University in 1972. After working a number of years in restaurant management and later in financial services he returned to school and received a Masters of Divinity degree in 1981 from the Universitity of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Following his ordination on July 28, 1981 he served as solo pastor for ten years in two calls, first in Hardin, Illinois and later in Ida Grove, Iowa.
In 1992 he received his certification as an Interim Pastor. He served four churches as Interim Pastor in Illinois before moving to Minnesota in 1997. He served as Interim pastor in Spicer, Minnesota and at Oliver Presbyterian in Minneapolis before coming to Knox as Redevelopment Pastor on April 1, 2001.
He is married to the Rev. Brenda Alexander who serves as the Director of Spiritual Care at the Presbyterian Home of Arden Hills. He has three grown children living in Iowa and Houston, TX. He loves to cook. He makes a killer grilled chicken! He also loves to sing, read and travel. In many occassions his traveling companion is Moses, his dog.
